How it went
What was there
The warehouse freezer ran on a large, old unit with a single compressor.
What we did
We replaced it with a new unit with two compressors, for redundancy, and installed an electronic expansion valve for energy efficiency.
The result
All of it was completed without service interruptions.
About the two upgrades
With two compressors, the unit can keep running on one if the other fails, so a single fault no longer takes the whole freezer down.
An electronic expansion valve meters refrigerant into the evaporator under electronic control, matching the flow to the load more closely than a mechanical valve can, which is where the energy saving comes from.
